What is one of the worst words I have ever heard..... Comfortable.
It is a word that kills. With that word Lot's wife looked back, to what she was comfortable with.....poof, gone she became, pillar of salt. Lives are lost to being comfortable physically and mentally and spiritually.
Look at Jacob and Esau, Esau was comfortable where he was at, too comfortable that he thought not of the repercussions of his actions over a bowl of food. Well, it had some repercussions, to say the least. That's a nice few chapters in Genesis on it's own ( Jacob being sent away, not seeing family for very long time, etc).
In the New testament, just look at the Rich young ruler (Luke 18:18-30), comfortable in life in both religious and physical areas.
What is so wrong with being comfortable? Who doesn't like it? The problem with it is that we get "comfortable" with where we are at, or how we do things and then it ends there. Like getting under the blankets on a cold night, especially with one you love, you don't want to get out. It is entrancing.
Yet if we do this in our walk, it will destroy us and those around us who become infected with it.
If one thinks of hypothermia, body starts to freeze, fall way below what is was designed to be at. What don't you want the person to do? Sleep.....though sleep is comfortable, it could kill the person because the body starts to relax, and slow down, and then eventually die.
Or, if one has ever seen the way to boil a frog, you turn the heat up just gradually, and over time, the comfort the frog gets , kills it.
This is how we become when we get comfortable and stay there. We become so entangled in how good it feels, how nice it is to be, that the devil creeps in and turns up the heat ever so slightly, over and over, til we don't even realize how far we have come and it still feels so good, that we die.....spiritually and even times physically.
I'm not putting down comfort, just remembering that it is not all it's cracked up to be. It may be a step along the way, not the destination. We have to get out from that comfort or we will sooner or later be destroyed by it.....

What a day it is
1 John 2:1
My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
AMEN! AMEN! This is not there so that we do sin, it's so that we Don't hold on to it. Don't go trying to make mistakes, but if you mess up.....Jesus is there on our behalf. What other defense do we have or need?
Also, Hebrews 10:30-31

Excuse me, what did you say?
I was on vacation and talking to a friend, and was told a remarkable thing. He told me about one study he went to where the study leader for that time asked " How many are under the Ten Commandments?" Well, kind of a weird question right? The group thought so also, trick question? Nope.
The study leader said, "Not me" (can almost imagine some gasps and intake of breaths) Plainly, he said that no one who calls themself a Christian is under the Ten Commandments. That is the old covenant.
We have those saying either, "hey the old testament is still good , we go by it" or" No, forget the old testament, it's just stories now" Well, really the old testament is not obsolete, but the old covenant is obsolete. No longer do we go by the old covenant. If we are truly Christians, not Jews. Hebrews 8: 13 "By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear."
Hey, David and Samuel and Elijah, Israel, these are our history, these are what we learn from. Go through Leviticus and tell me that we still go by it. :) Heck, I don't understand half the stuff they had to do, much less do it.
The point made at the study was, we are not the Israelites of old, under the regulations and rules/laws. We do not have to sacrifice lambs,or doves, or do the things of the old covenant. Am I allowed to murder or steal? No. Heck it is deeper than that now, I can't get mad at my brother or become envious or jealous. But I'm not under the old covenant. Hm, sounds like "well you still can't kill or steal , that's ten commandments stuff."
Let me try and um, this is how I think of it, hope it makes sense. When you get a new operating system (like windows), you get a "new operating system" there are still programs and applications from older systems or similar systems (notepad, calculator, etc, solitaire :) ) , yet it has more and/or upgraded, it is different. The speed needed, schemes, or how it was designed. It is N e w . The old is no longer valid. Can you go by it, yeah, but it's either new or old.
Make some sense? I hope so . The new covenant is based on Christ as the lamb that was sacrificed, ONCE and for ALL. While it also contains not murdering and stealing, actually it goes it goes a step further, it's more.....Do not stay angry, don't be envious, jealous, etc. It's totally new. The more we think of the similarities, the more we turn from it. This happens in religion, "little tweaks" turn to a new religion, which in turn get "tweaked" some more til it is nothing like before.
What's the point. I mean, when my friend told me the question I was thinking "yeah, still got 10 commandments, I grew up learning them, gotta obey them." No, this is NEW. Need to stop using the old as law. we use the New, not the old. The analogy " Can't train an old dog new tricks" , was a problem then and seems to resonate now, Old is no longer valid covenant, it's not pick and choose what I want from old. New covenant wipes slate clean, let go of the old. Get away from it as rule, and hold onto it as reference/learning as it is now. So, we live by the new covenant.

I saw someone do it (learned) now I go even further, put on a glove or turn off the stove, or look before reaching. That is how in some sense we are now. We learn from the old testament and covenant, yet it's rules and laws are not what we are under. Thank GOD We live by the New covenant. So , I can gladly say I'm not under the old covenant, I'm under the new. That is SO Awesome and it is what I have to go by.

Hm, sometimes i wonder
Short one today. I wonder, what is the meaning of things? How can good be done when we don't see or plan on it?
Had a class today, no one showed up except 2 people. So, the class was cancelled. Waste of time? To do the class, yes, but still was useful. Another class was going on and need something I had on me. Since, I have to protect this thing with my life, so I had to sit in the class also. Now one of the students is a teacher, so the student can learn, and use what was taught back to more people. All cause one thing didn't work out. My thought being, is that since one thing didn't work out right away or at the time being (Class is going to keep going, more students coming in tomorrow, so it isn't the end :) )
Well this happens in life. We think things are falling apart because one thing or another isn't going how we planned. Usually, it's lack of patience, comittment, or something or another. The point is , it's not about just seeing what went go wrong, what chance is there to do something good? The temptation is to just give up, walk away, fall into self.
Today, I almost just left right away, Heck, it was early, I don't sleep well, hadn't eaten, downcast, I wanted to hit the road. It didn't work out the way it was supposed to. I was frustrated. Thank the Most High I didn't leave, cause not only did I get to be an asset to someone else, that very well will help more people than I could think of . Also, i got something out of the class and instructor also.
So, just an encouragement, when times get down or something isn't going well, try, just try and see what can come from it or around it. It could very well be a big difference maker in more than your life. Persevere.....

Missing something?
John 3: 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Most people know or have heard of John 3:16, heck if you watched wrestling at any time, they always scan the crowds and there is always someone with a poster that has : "wrestler's name" 3:16". What most don't know is that verse right after, where it is more direct to why God sent Jesus into the world.
Many times when asked of people of who God is and what He does, they will say, "Mean, super scary, accusing, angry, hates us and wants to punish us"
Hm, I think not..... too often we read into things. He's doesn't want to "send us all to the pits of hell!" as some people teach . He wants us to be with Him. To actually have caring emotions, not this: "you devil child!"
God can't be with evil; we do evil, (choices we have made, sin working in us), God can't be with that. He sent His son to combat that and win over that. It is not about hating people, it was about hating sin. NOT US.
Ephesians 6:12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
God wants us, but not sin. We have an obligation to others to "hate the sin, but LOVE the sinner" Our example was already given.....will we follow it ?
I haven't and don't always do that ; where I seperate the sin vs the person. We are not sin ("you are what you eat" thought pattern), but we have sin (What we do will help us- God's way, or lead us to death-sin's way) (see Romans 6:23). I mess up and forget/lose focus. Working at it and working on it. Fight the good fight, you are not alone.
Thank God for mercy, renewal,and repentance. Mostly, For His Love which encompasses all this and more.

Wow, the days go together
Today was a good day. Now it isn't. Seems like it was better when we were in "combat mission". Our guys got hit less. Ah, well. Life is 2 way street, the way you act and the way it acts to you. Can't control the way it acts to you. Just the way you act to it. How are you gonna act to it?

Whoa, almost forgot
Almost forgot today . Got busy doing one thing or another. Short and sweet . Where/What do you treasure?This is an open forum question, so if you read this leave me a message/comment please.
It is good to ask these questions both to oneself and others, it's amazing the answers.

For me, has it been in GOD, not all the time. :( Definately have messed up there, so don't be ashamed to be honest with yourself and one another. Hey we mess up. Thank you to those who helped me remember where it needs to belong, when I get derailed/distracted. Thank you God for mercy, forgiveness, and repentance.

To life, to life.....how does the rest go ?
Ever get into a room and you think "what the heck am i doing here ?!" Yeah, have had that feeling since Sunday. Doing a class and I don't speak the language.....hm, slightly weird and creepy feeling until the interpreter shows up....(a 1/2 hr never felt this long in my life). So for one, just lil old me behind a desk (whoa, boxed in), second, like 20 grown men talking ab=mongst themselves and i hear words like (internet, doctor,american, No speak language), third, laughing and pointing at me, and fourth, yeah, where the class is located is surrounded by more locals and maybe 2-3 americans. Kinda scary if something were to go wrong. Yeah, nothing like a pocket knife and my bb gun (m4 carbine) here. SO that half hr from when i sit there waiting for an interpreter, lots of stuff and alienated feelings run through my mind.....I don't belong.
I don't belong. Anybody else feel that way ever? I do, none more than now, in a different place, surrounded by people i don't understand, those I do understand are probably not the best to imitate (language, ethically challengd?)
Is it bad to feel this way ? That I don't belong? No.
Jesus said in John 15: 19If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
and in chapter 17:14I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.

What's for eating ?
Our bodies crave some type of nourishment. Some of it is bad (too much McDonalds could be a problem :)), some of it is good, "milk: it does a body good" , but in one way or another we need some nourishment. My favorite food in the world is honey buns. I once ate 32-34 boxes (6 per box) in about on month! Yes, i don't um, suggest that for anyone. My teeth now hate me .....:) .
Anyways, we need something in our bodies or we die. Yet sometimes what we eat causes the living to be painful. Too much of things cause things such as Diabetes, heart disease, too much strain on our bodies where they just start quitting on us. Also, some of us already have some genetic things that don't help either.
Our minds also have the same thing. We need to feed it, but what are we feeding it? Is it healthy or is it just "something to hold me over" or is it bad for us ?(Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.' "John 6:27Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.")
Look at television, when was the last time that there was a show that promoted real values, not sexual oriented or bad language crazy?
This guy (me) is talking from his own experiences. Movies like Austin powers, or tv shows likeFamily guy, and Wrestling, and the like, while I have been entertained from them, are just junk. But what is the price to be paid? Innuendos, sexual innuendos, blatant course joking, violence, blatant discourse against God, the one who I serve. It affects in life, through language, actions, just the example of watching it with others, giving the idea "its ok".
Why? Cause there was funny stuff? I wanted to have a little "wild side" through it? I have no excuse, it has taken time, but for once, I turned the channel when an Austin powers movie came on. I just got up and changed it. While others were listening and so forth, actually, instead of getting yelled at, I got told that someone else wanted it done too, so well, guess there was good from it. Been trying to keep away from the other stuff too, hard to do , who would have guessed it (sarcasm)? I'm just saying, I know something might "taste" good to our minds, but what are the implications from it ? Will it slowly bring you closer to death or enhance our already "genetic weakness" (Rom. 3: 10,23)?
Be careful, cause this stuff can/will do more damage than good.( Galatians 5: 9"A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough." 1 Corinthians 5:8 "Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.")
Thank you to the those who have yelled at me over and over about stuff I have seen, woman of my heart, Parents, Friends.....it gets through eventually. Ooooh, a honeybun.....um, then again, maybe i shouldn't :)

This guy (me) is talking from his own experiences. Movies like Austin powers, or tv shows likeFamily guy, and Wrestling, and the like, while I have been entertained from them, are just junk. But what is the price to be paid? Innuendos, sexual innuendos, blatant course joking, violence, blatant discourse against God, the one who I serve. It affects in life, through language, actions, just the example of watching it with others, giving the idea "its ok".
Why? Cause there was funny stuff? I wanted to have a little "wild side" through it? I have no excuse, it has taken time, but for once, I turned the channel when an Austin powers movie came on. I just got up and changed it. While others were listening and so forth, actually, instead of getting yelled at, I got told that someone else wanted it done too, so well, guess there was good from it. Been trying to keep away from the other stuff too, hard to do , who would have guessed it (sarcasm)? I'm just saying, I know something might "taste" good to our minds, but what are the implications from it ? Will it slowly bring you closer to death or enhance our already "genetic weakness" (Rom. 3: 10,23)?
Be careful, cause this stuff can/will do more damage than good.( Galatians 5: 9"A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough." 1 Corinthians 5:8 "Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.")
Thank you to the those who have yelled at me over and over about stuff I have seen, woman of my heart, Parents, Friends.....it gets through eventually. Ooooh, a honeybun.....um, then again, maybe i shouldn't :)

What is Strength part 2- Hannah 1 Samuel 1-2
So Left off with Her crying and praying. In her prayers she made a vow , that if she had a son, she would give him back to God and not cut his hair. 1:11. Well as we know, her husband lay with her and she had a son. v.19-20
What I find beautiful is it says, "the Lord remembered her"(v19).....God isn't some being looking in from a telescope. He knows each and everyone of us. When He says he is there, He is right there.
Onward we go, She weaned Samuel, made it so he would not need as much care. If anything would hold me from giving up my child, especially my first, it would be the years spent before, hand feeding, watching, teaching. I'm no mother, so i can only think it super harder for her to do this. Also knowing she would be giving him up. Yet, she did. Also, look quick at her husband, easily he could have told her " don't care what you said, lets get the kid up there now" instead, he supported her (v23). How many times have i failed at that? How many times have we all failed at that? Instead of supporting we try and take control? Yet, thank God for more chances! I hope.
Ok, distraction over :). She weaned him and then she gave him over. What in the WORLD?! This is where her strength of character, her righteousness, her devotion to God is on a pedestal ! (v 24-28)
SHE GAVE HER LIFE (son) TO GOD ..... In a time where children were super important (way more than today) she gave hers back to GOD .
Not only did she do it, she did it with such um, class and humility, praising God. (her prayer in chp 2).
I don't know much, but this woman was amazing, i don't think she knew it then, but God, through her,(the weeping, the praying, the vow, the fulfillment), just produced one of the greatest judges and prophet in history. See how through one, through someone who went through pain, lots of it, God pretty much just brought some salvation, power, and guidance to His people. Thank you Hannah for what you did.

Oops, almost forgot, Samuel's home was Ramah where His famiy was from, so God brought back her son to her (plus she always got to see him once a year and made him robes, 2:18) and she had more kids (3 sons 2 daughters, 2:21, tell me she didn't get blessed.....sarcasm). God is Good.

No, man here, they aren't the only ones who have strength. This woman, found in 1 Samuel 1& 2 mainly, gave up what technically was hers. Her son, scripture talks about how children are the joy and awesome to have and so forth, yet, this amazing woman gave hers up, her 1st born for one, and at the time, only child !
Hannah, an old testament super woman. :) Why though ?
For one, she persevered under pressure and ridicule ( her husbands other wife had kids and kept harrassing her over it- 1:6), second, she became overwhelmed and then did what we all ought to do.....weep and pray (1:10). Crying, the most powerful people in my life i have seen cry. Not just a tear here and there, i mean, to the point of screaming into a pillow with so much sorrow. When they prolly didn't notice or know, i watched and/or heard them pray. People have made fun of how i pray, but when i heard these people pray i truly felt foolish. The voice, not loud or babbling, emotion so great it feels like magnet pulling at the strings of the heart and soul. This was what Jesus was talking about in Matthew 6: 6 "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
Hannah did the same thing - in fact the scripture says V13 Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard.
The closet was her heart, inside her.
This is just part 1 of it, but just this far is far enough to see a few great things:
1. It might not be so blatant, but we all have some struggle and in facing it head on something great happens (v6 &7, great thing happens after)
2. It gets overwhelming (v 7,10)
3. There are things no one but God can fix, doesn't mean someone doesn't still care, and that helps (v5 &8)
4.It's ok to cry (7&10)
5.don't forget to pray. (10)
Yeah, this is just a background on Her. Still lots to learn from it and haven't even gotten to the center yet.

Ah, nuthing like opening the news and reading:

Well, that just makes a day more sad. Heck, I'm no expert and highly ask for your thoughts, comments on the rapture. From what i have studied though, there are a few different views on this, some say it is the second coming of Christ, some say it is the taking of the Church before times of tribulation, some say other things. Yet what seems to be agreed is that there is no time known when this will happen. Matthew 24:36, Jesus is quoted saying; "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only" (RSV). Also there is no "special place" to collect, in the same chapter Jesus said "40Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. "
So, i hope they find these people. But this brings in the scary thought, that well, we don't think for ourselves and/or don't actually look for the answers from where the answer come from.....GOD.
Instead of going "yeah, keep preaching!" we might need to go, well, "is it a true teaching?"
Anything I may say, it is a goal to be able to back it up scripturally, might take a minute, but i'll get there. If I'm wrong, then AMEN ! That means someone was listening, someone cares to correct and I was just, well guess a thought, "Apollo'd" (Acts 18:24-26) or James 5:19-20 says (NIV): 19My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.
Either way, the point is that before we praise, we need to make sure it was God made.
2 Timothy chp3 through chp 4:6
1 Timothy 4:16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?
1 John 4:1
[ Test the Spirits ] Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
1 Thessalonians 5:21
Test everything. Hold on to the good.
How do we do this?
Studying, reading, praying, faith. We need to stop taking people at their word and Check it out ourselves. It's easy to just go along, but the real reward is knowing that God has your back.....like Gamaliel said in Acts 5: 38Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. 39But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God."

3 John Verse 11
Verse :
11Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.

Good:

- Paul has written “I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.”1 Corinthians 9:22
Does that mean imitating evil ? No . Depending on strength of people the level is different. To some, hey they can watch almost anything and not be phased, embalming, surgery, horror shows, etc, yet another jumps with a loud noise or can watch just a tooth being taken out ....anything more is more than they can handle. Or Weight lifting, some can bench 250lbs many times, yet they run slow, others run like a cheetah but can't lift more than 150 lbs, It is all about what one cna handle. So Paul could be flexible cause he knew that certain things (culturally, linguistically) was a matter of opinion, but when it came to other things, Jesus crucified, partaking in sinful acts and such things, God commanded things, he had the boundaries.
Also, there are good things in all places, respect or honor or such in all cultures. Are there bad things? Of course ! We are all mortals/sinners. USA, free choice, more equality, try to help others/protect them. Does USA have bad parts ? OH YES ! So what should we do? It says here to imitate the good, so take stuff from both yet only imitate the good stuff. From imitate I still see both sides, good and bad. I just do what is good and learn from the bad.
Doing good is from God. And doing bad is not from God. Basic enough to understand right ?
Hm, looking at this, doing bad and not seeing God in the easiest way for me to understand is:
What decides something as good or evil ? It's not what, it's Who .....God.
Keep the faith, Study the Scriptures, "Test everything. Hold on to the good." (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

Random thought 2 : the devil
Known by many names , beelzebub, devil, satan, lucifer, evil one , etc. We attribute bad with satan. Why then do we get mad when we say “ the devil has a hold on you “ or “fight the devil” ? Instead we just use the word sin for anything, the devil wants us to sin, he is the culprit . He's the one using our own free will to be directed to wrong.
Instead we want to blame people, I think it would be a better way to get perspective to blame the evil one, cause it helps remind us to hate the sin, not the sinner. Instead of “look out for sin” it could be more like “ look out for the devil”. Like Paul says, there are 2 laws at work, one of sin -the devil , and one of the SPIRIT- GOD's ! Battle of Good vs evil , yet evil is trying to catch up ; it never will ! Good ( GOD) has already won ! (AMEN! YAHOO ! )
The evil one (devil) is still trying and having success at times cause look at the state of things- killing for being born this or that , death cause of what you have , Christians fighting over music w/instruments over just voice, rather than the bigger issue of fighting for salvation of souls as Jesus said ( Mt . 28 :18 -20 )
We look at our own troubles and hurt and we think “ the world” revolves around each and every one of us. We forget ( I know for one that, I have and do at times) that the more we focus तो work for others we ourselves are helped in ways we can't fathom . That is why we are to look not to our own good, but the good of others ; it serves many purposes, our eyes are opened , we truly kill/sacrifice ourselves aka so GOD can show rather than ourselves.
But to return back to the aspect of the devil. The above point reiterates who the devil hates , since , if the devil can get us to focus on ourselves , we already lost, cause it isn't about myself only. It's about HE that the evil one hates, NOT myself, not oneself.
Hm , GOD wants us, so it has merit that it is about us, but not in the sense that the devil wants to distort us, like in the garden the devil didn't lie, the fruit did what it was said to do, yet the devil made it not about GOD , but about Adam and eve , and took GOD out of it .
Watch out for the devil! Another way of being careful of sin, or the lies the devil sets out to destabilize or attempt to destroy the work of the MOST HIGH – US .
We add something as if we are afraid of the devil when we say the devil is getting a hold of someone . This is a trick the devil uses cause to take from a movie “ fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself” (Harry potter book 1, I believe, probably not word for word) That is what we do. We MUST stop this because it gives the devil too much leverage. Remember Who you belong to.....:)

Random thinking to start off (first post)
What is the world about ? Look at sports, look how much more perverse it has become , I mean the phrase “ me first attitude” is no longer even flinched at . “teams” are no longer teams, it's just a group of guys wanting a championship so they can get a bigger payday . Rare are those who actually want to be team oriented, even that is a fluke, “ I want a championship and the team does too”
Even here is “me first” Look at all the lives in the world , get what you can for yourself, even in our congregations we do this , "oh, I got a lot out of that lesson," or "the preacher didn't teach what I wanted today."
I have done this too many times, “what can I get out of this ?” This is the total opposite of God's way. Don't worry what I can get out this or that. What I get out maybe something so crazy I wouldn't have ever believed it ! In my darkest areas of my heart I want something for me, me, me, me, me, me . It trips me up so much. The only true time I have ever felt fulfilled was just doing something not for me .
Hm, there is a better way to explain this . The pain I feel right now overwhelms me , it hurts so much I just cry at random times , the memories, the betrayals, the hurts, the hurt given to others by my own hand, the time lost, the time, the energy, the pain, it becomes overwhelming. What is the secret to it going away, to healing, to forgiveness, to continuing with these scars, to getting away from me? Oh God in heaven what is the answer ?!
Answer: Death of self, carrying my cross daily and following Him. No matter the pain, the hurt, given and taken , I can't focus on myself. The devil wants that. If I do that, then that's it, I forget what love is, what Jesus does and did for me . He took the beating, he took the soldiers spitting on Him, hitting Him, He took the nails, He was stripped of clothing, He was “hung out to dry”, I put Him there, He didn't DESERVE IT ! He was hurt by it !
Matthew 26: 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” 39Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
42He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”
When I focus on myself is when I nullify all He is and has done for me . All He went through was so we didn't have to suffer as we do, either by our own thoughts of doing things on our own (I can fix it myself right ?) He didn't look at Himself and say "Father, make it stop now”, no He looked to the end at others. Even when He went off to pray, it was to get recharged to do the will of God. Not himself. Physically and emotionally no one, not even Job has gone through that, cause Job was not perfect. There is nothing that when focus / my life isn't about me that is too much. Arg, if only it was that easy. Please God we need you for that ! Help me let you do your work on me while being used to work for you.
Now to our regularly scheduled studying..... :) .....next time, maybe.....
Even here is “me first” Look at all the lives in the world , get what you can for yourself, even in our congregations we do this , "oh, I got a lot out of that lesson," or "the preacher didn't teach what I wanted today."
I have done this too many times, “what can I get out of this ?” This is the total opposite of God's way. Don't worry what I can get out this or that. What I get out maybe something so crazy I wouldn't have ever believed it ! In my darkest areas of my heart I want something for me, me, me, me, me, me . It trips me up so much. The only true time I have ever felt fulfilled was just doing something not for me .
