What is worthwhile
Hm, I stink at basketball, Dan. Still I try and play. Today was a good day to play. Unfortunately, not everyone thought so. Why do we take sports so serious? It is only a game. Especially when we are not "professional athletes" . I have seen my favorite teams make it to the big game and lose, and sheesh I have been a terror after, due to anger, annoyance, etc that they lost.
I remember being a younger kid, and watching my Dad and brother play basketball in the driveway. Bunch of trash talkers and as my brother got older and well, he is a good athlete, their games became more and more intense. I remember them yelling at each other. Hm, just stupid sports. Yeah wel, Dan you done the same with video game sports, just dumb video game.... sigh......
Today, I saw the same thing. Two grown men, acting like kids over a basketball foul and not agreeing. You could see it play out so simply..... they were guarding other guys, then of course one of the guys tells his teammate to switch him guys...... yup, great move, now constant trash talking. Next they start yapping at each other and "being tough"..... then the inevitable pushing under the hoop for better position...... ROAR, I'm stronger than you, so I must be right in our argument..... then of course it gets more intense and then, WHOOP, one guy literally grabs, trips, and throws another to the floor. Then the tussle begins...... and got to get in the middle of it..... yup, way to go, now they got kicked out of gym for their acts.
Why? Why are we men such idiots? When in doubt, try and get the bigger gun or prove our strength?
Stupidity. Pride.
Well, had fun after, I think it was the most fun I have had in a while. The first game, was the best. Yup, we lost, but had so much fun just joking around while we played. It was a horrible game for both teams, after 15 minutes the score was 7-5. Won some games and it is nice to win, but the team i played with was just fun. We enjoyed playing together cause we just played and didn't yell at each other or seriously make fun of each other (yes we make jokes about air balls and shots). That is what it is about. The people. Even playing seriously, it was enjoyable because we had each other's back. I stink at playing but they still encouraged me and I them either way. This is what we were made for. To heck with white, black, yellow, red or whatever male or female, big and tall or short and squat. If at the end of the time, we brought nothing but aggression and pain, it was really us who lost, and destroyed others in the making.
Stop being stupid and proud, Dan.......

When times despair, when you are scared..... Don't give up, you are not alone.
Well I was going to write a lot, then I saw this song ... that changed quick. Song is kinda like your personalty, calm and light, then loud and strong.... imperative... Except you don't have a good strong sometimes.
Sometimes it seems like the world is just trying to suck you into the pit of despair, nothing works right. Take this song reminds you, at least, there needs to be more than oneself. You need more than what you can give or do for or to yourself. You need saving, from despair. I don't know if that makes sense but hope this song helps you sometime or maybe more than once. Sometimes just gotta let it out.

It is a good day
Today is a good day to breath. it is the only day I have. The only moments where I can make a difference. It is a good day because I was able to eat. It was a good day because I didn't have and accident. It was a good day because I can see. A good day because I can walk. It is a good day because it was a day I could be used to do good. It was a good day because I was allowed to live it. No day should be bad, yes, things we don't like happen. People get hurt, things happen unexpected, yet no day is bad. It is a good day because we are given another chance to be the people we were made to be..... it is a good day.

This day in History........ from http://www.factmonster.com/dayinhistory
Man is but a fleeting shadow, here a moment and gone the next. The past repeats itself and is forgotten. So, here is a reminder of things that happened before. Our lives are fleeting, the consequences of our actions can live for all time.

There is fun, not fun, very not remotely of any enjoyment.... then there is running
I hate running. I absolutely cannot understand why people do it for fun. Sure, sometimes I just want to run around with a dog and play around; maybe race dog til it easily outruns me. Running, though, just to run..... um, how about NOOOOOO.
I try and stay away from running, unfortunately I have tests I have to do 2-4 x a year where I have to run 2 miles in a certain time. Let's just say I try and stay away from it until the last minute. That is a bad idea. Yet here I stand, a week and a half from test and look who just ran? Oh yeah , me. Not sure why, I actually sorta enjoyed it tonight, nice and cool, good music in my ear.
I put it off until the last minute, or more so, I tried to avoid it until i couldn't. This is an analogy for life sometimes. You know, avoid something until it overwhelms you. The problem is, like running for me ... it hurts like crazy when I have to do it because I never start to deal with it until it is too late and I'm poorly prepared, life is this way. We try and avoid people, situations or dealing with situations and then they hit us (sometimes literally) in the face. Yes, life is busy at times. We all have that thing that makes us tick and there is always someone out there that knows how to set it off.
Gotta start dealing with it before it kicks our butts. Ah , running, you win today. Tomorrow, it will be better. I'm gonna deal with you day by day. I hope somehow it will also be in day to day how we deal with our problems, one step at a time. One day at a time. Today is all there is, even if you fail, least you are better off now than when it beat you down.

This was really interesting..... I think
Evening
"In the name of the Lord I will destroy them."
Psalm 118:12
Psalm 118:12
Our Lord Jesus, by his death, did not purchase a right to a part of us only, but to the entire man. He contemplated in his passion the sanctification of us wholly, spirit, soul, and body; that in this triple kingdom he himself might reign supreme without a rival. It is the business of the newborn nature which God has given to the regenerate to assert the rights of the Lord Jesus Christ. My soul, so far as thou art a child of God, thou must conquer all the rest of thyself which yet remains unblest; thou must subdue all thy powers and passions to the silver sceptre of Jesus' gracious reign, and thou must never be satisfied till he who is King by purchase becomes also King by gracious coronation, and reigns in thee supreme. Seeing, then, that sin has no right to any part of us, we go about a good and lawful warfare when we seek, in the name of God, to drive it out. O my body, thou art a member of Christ: shall I tolerate thy subjection to the prince of darkness? O my soul, Christ has suffered for thy sins, and redeemed thee with his most precious blood: shall I suffer thy memory to become a storehouse of evil, or thy passions to be firebrands of iniquity? Shall I surrender my judgment to be perverted by error, or my will to be led in fetters of iniquity? No, my soul, thou art Christ's, and sin hath no right to thee.
Be courageous concerning this, O Christian! be not dispirited, as though your spiritual enemies could never be destroyed. You are able to overcome them--not in your own strength--the weakest of them would be too much for you in that; but you can and shall overcome them through the blood of the Lamb. Do not ask, "How shall I dispossess them, for they are greater and mightier than I?" but go to the strong for strength, wait humbly upon God, and the mighty God of Jacob will surely come to the rescue, and you shall sing of victory through his grace.

Evening
"Before honour is humility."
Proverbs 15:33
Proverbs 15:33
Humiliation of soul always brings a positive blessing with it. If we empty our hearts of self, God will fill them with his love. He who desires close communion with Christ should remember the word of the Lord, "To this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word." Stoop if you would climb to heaven. Do we not say of Jesus, "He descended that he might ascend?" So must you. You must grow downwards, that you may grow upwards; for the sweetest fellowship with heaven is to be had by humble souls, and by them alone. God will deny no blessing to a thoroughly humbled spirit. "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven," with all its riches and treasures. The whole exchequer of God shall be made over by deed of gift to the soul which is humble enough to be able to receive it without growing proud because of it. God blesses us all up to the full measure and extremity of what it is safe for him to do. If you do not get a blessing, it is because it is not safe for you to have one. If our heavenly Father were to let your unhumbled spirit win a victory in his holy war, you would pilfer the crown for yourself, and meeting with a fresh enemy you would fall a victim; so that you are kept low for your own safety. When a man is sincerely humble, and never ventures to touch so much as a grain of the praise, there is scarcely any limit to what God will do for him. Humility makes us ready to be blessed by the God of all grace, and fits us to deal efficiently with our fellow men. True humility is a flower which will adorn any garden. This is a sauce with which you may season every dish of life, and you will find an improvement in every case. Whether it be prayer or praise, whether it be work or suffering, the genuine salt of humility cannot be used in excess.

Cup is always full.....
I know I've written with this verse, and not everyone believes the Bible. Yet this si where I start, either how it seems to say what the picture says....
James 1:
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Risks are a part of life, driving a car, risk of an accident or playing the stock market you can lose all your money/ gain alot more. It is a daily thing, some larger some smaller risks.
We can look at things we do and risk, in two ways......
1. We won or we lost.
2. We won or we just found out what not to do .
Thomas Edison once said : "I have not failed 700 times. I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving that those 700 ways will not work. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I will find the way that will work."
This is the point. We don't have to lose when we don't get what we risk for. We lose when we let that risk defeat us.

A way back..... if lost
Evening
"Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord."
Lamentations 3:40
Lamentations 3:40
The spouse who fondly loves her absent husband longs for his return; a long protracted separation from her lord is a semi-death to her spirit: and so with souls who love the Saviour much, they must see his face, they cannot bear that he should be away upon the mountains of Bether, and no more hold communion with them. A reproaching glance, an uplifted finger will be grievous to loving children, who fear to offend their tender father, and are only happy in his smile. Beloved, it was so once with you. A text of Scripture, a threatening, a touch of the rod of affliction, and you went to your Father's feet, crying, "Show me wherefore thou contendest with me?" Is it so now? Are you content to follow Jesus afar off? Can you contemplate suspended communion with Christ without alarm? Can you bear to have your Beloved walking contrary to you, because you walk contrary to him? Have your sins separated between you and your God, and is your heart at rest? O let me affectionately warn you, for it is a grievous thing when we can live contentedly without the present enjoyment of the Saviour's face. Let us labour to feel what an evil thing this is--little love to our own dying Saviour, little joy in our precious Jesus, little fellowship with the Beloved! Hold a true Lent in your souls, while you sorrow over your hardness of heart. Do not stop at sorrow! Remember where you first received salvation. Go at once to the cross. There, and there only, can you get your spirit quickened. No matter how hard, how insensible, how dead we may have become, let us go again in all the rags and poverty, and defilement of our natural condition. Let us clasp that cross, let us look into those languid eyes, let us bathe in that fountain filled with blood--this will bring back to us our first love; this will restore the simplicity of our faith, and the tenderness of our heart.
